The first model to hit UK roads from OMODA, is the 5 compact SUV.

The OMODA 5 features a 1.6-litre TDGI engine that produces 186 PS and 275 Nm of torque. This powertrain enables the OMODA 5 to accelerate from 0-62 mph in 7.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 121 mph. Drive is sent to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).

The OMODA 5’s ride and handling characteristics have been meticulously tuned to offer an ideal balance of agility, comfort and refinement. The brand’s expert team responsible for vehicle dynamics based at OMODA’s Frankfurt-based R&D Centre performed final sign-off testing on a mix of UK and European roads, ensuring the company’s debut model meets the high expectations of European-based customers.

UK OMODA 5 models are available in two highly specified trim levels – Comfort and Noble. Full UK specifications will be announced in due course, with order books now open.

Futuristic exterior and interior design

Shaped by its own dedicated “Light of Movement” design language, which draws inspiration from the dynamics of light and shadow during natural phenomena such as lightning, the OMODA 5 benefits from a striking, modern aesthetic.

The front takes the form of a distinctive ‘X’ shape, conveying the vehicle’s sporting, confident character. The slimline LED headlights with their distinctive T-shaped daytime running lights help to accentuate the vehicle’s visual width and reinforce the theme of advanced technology that is a defining element throughout. The LED taillights feature intricate, distinctive vertical strakes.

The taught lines and sculpted surfaces of the body reinforce the OMODA 5’s poised, planted stance, while the steeply raked rear screen and prominent roof-mounted spoiler adds a further visual flourish, while also enhancing aerodynamics.

Opening the powered tailgate reveals a spacious 380-litre luggage compartment, which extends to 1,075 litres with the rear seats folded.

The OMODA 5’s interior seamlessly integrates cutting-edge digital cockpit technology with premium materials and finishes, to create a tranquil environment that makes every journey comfortable and relaxing.

Engineered for exceptional comfort and support, the synthetic leather sports front seats feature six-way power adjustment for the driver as standard, with the Noble variant adding power adjustment and heating for both front seats.

For enhanced occupant wellbeing, the dual-zone climate control system – standard on the Noble specification – features a PM2.5 filter to keep ultrafine particulate matter out of the cabin.

The interior has also been designed to make day-to-day life simpler and more convenient through a series of special modes. Welcome Mode automatically unlocks the vehicle on your approach, illuminates the lights in different ways, and displays a welcome message on the central screen.

Connected and intuitive technology

Employing cutting-edge technology within an elegantly streamlined, slimline design, the OMODA 5’s digital cockpit promises intuitive operation and an immersive user interface.

Positioned in front of the driver is a 10.25-inch, high-definition instrument cluster that displays essential driving information. A second 10.25-inch touchscreen at the top of the centre console is angled towards the driver and offers fast, intuitive control of the infotainment system. Natural voice control is also available so drivers can easily select key functions. The Sony surround sound audio system, standard on the Noble model, features 8 speakers for superb quality sound reproduction for every occupant.

To deliver the optimum balance of virtual and physical controls, a row of buttons for commonly used features, such as climate control, are integrated into the centre console.

A 360-degree surround view camera and powered tailgate on Noble models help with parking and unloading on arrival.

Wireless Apple CarPlay® and wireless Android Auto™ are also standard, delivering seamless smartphone integration, while the 50W wireless charger in the centre console can power up two devices at once. An integrated cooling element always ensures reliable and fast charging.

Responsive and efficient petrol powertrain

The OMODA 5 promises an exhilarating yet environmentally conscious driving experience, geared towards efficient performance and choice for drivers who wish to continue using traditionally fuelled powertrains.

The OMODA 5 boasts a powerful 1.6-litre Turbocharged Direct Gasoline Injection (TDGI) engine featuring a dual variable valve timing system (DVVT). The engine achieves a maximum output of 186 PS and 275 Nm of torque available from 1,750 – 4,500 rpm. Acceleration from 0-62 mph takes just 7.9 seconds, with a top speed of 121 mph. Drive is sent to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) supplied by Getrag.

A choice of three driving modes – Eco, Comfort and Sport – enables drivers to tailor the driving experience to their preference.

The OMODA 5 produces CO2 emissions from 170 g/km (WLTP), and achieves fuel economy from 31.2 mpg (WLTP).

Chassis and suspension: meticulously tuned for UK roads

The OMODA 5 has been engineered in close co-operation with the company’s European R&D centre in Frankfurt to deliver a rewarding, engaging driving experience, together with impressive levels of comfort and refinement.

Fundamental to these qualities is the high torsional stiffness of the body structure, which was designed to accommodate both electric and internal combustion powertrains from the outset, ensuring no compromises. The high levels of rigidity achieved provides the optimum platform for the suspension system to work effectively, while minimising road noise and vibration.

The front suspension features MacPherson struts and coil springs, with a multi-link suspension and coil springs at the rear. This configuration ensures responsive handling together with a smooth, quiet and comfortable ride, whether on city streets, motorways or country roads.

OMODA understands that customers in the UK and Europe are some of the most demanding worldwide when it comes to vehicle dynamics. Everything from spring and damper rates, steering ratios, anti-roll bar stiffness, bush rates, summer and winter tyres, and brake pad materials, are developed to deliver the ride, handling and agility expected by European motorists.

Advanced safety technologies

From the outset of its development, the OMODA 5’s T1X architecture was engineered to offer exceptional levels of safety. The efficacy of its body structure design, restraint systems and suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) are reflected in a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating.

An optimised combination of high- and ultra-high strength steels are used to form the passenger compartment safety cell, while the vehicle’s front crumple zone is enhanced with six energy-absorbing crash structures.

Enhancing the high levels of protection provided by the body structure is a complement of 11 airbags, including a centre airbag to mitigate the effect of any collision between the driver and front seat passenger.

Using data from an array of cameras, radar, and ultrasonic sensors, the OMODA 5 takes a 360-degree view of its surroundings to operate 17 ADAS systems for L2+ autonomous driving capability. All are designed to help protect occupants, other road users, cyclists and pedestrians, while increasing driver comfort.

Among the systems included as standard are Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Change Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Detection, Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Rear Cross Traffic Brake, and Door Open Warning. These technologies have enabled the OMODA 5 to achieve a score of 88% for safety assist systems as part of its five-star Euro NCAP safety rating.

Pricing and trim levels

Alongside its all-electric E5 stablemate, the OMODA 5 is being offered in the UK with two different trim levels: Comfort and Noble. Each is generously equipped with features that set new standards for connectivity, convenience and comfort. Each trim can be further enhanced by a carefully curated range of options and equipment packs.
